Daniel’s 5K Race

A Message from the Myslivecek's

Participants and Sponsors!!

Daniel’s 5k has come to bring much healing and excitement to our lives!  What a wonderful way to honor and remember Daniel.  We look forward to the time spent preparing and ‘racing’ with you all on March 29th.

This Race has seen our family through a series of events.  In 2006 Daniel ran in this race and completed the race despite being in the middle of a series of treatments.  Less than 4 months later he completed the “race of life” and received the highest prize guaranteed by Christ.  In 2007, our youngest daughter Abigal, ran the race despite being recently diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia.  We are grateful that her treatment is working very well!  Hopefully, by the time we all meet for the race, Abigal will have begun the weaning process and a bone marrow transplant will not be necessary.  It is nice to know that the support of the community is so close. You can keep up to date on Abigal and the rest of our family on Abigal’s webpage:  www.caringbridge.org/visit/abigal

With your generosity and constant support we are able to again support some of Daniel’s favorite charities; Hunt of a Lifetime, Benefit for Kids, Golisano Children’s Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Camp Good Days, and K-Love.  The organizations have been a significant light and source of hope for our children this last year.  A portion of the funds will go to help them give hope to other families with children that suffer from a life threatening illness.  We have added a couple other charities to the list this year as well.  Adirondack Experience is for troubled youth to “get out” and find direction in God’s Country!  Finally, Daniel’s class of 2008 graduates this year from Churchville Chili High School.  The class of 2008 lost four other classmates after Daniel passed away.  One student lost her battle with cancer and three others died in a tragic car accident.  There is a memorial being constructed at the high school and a portion of the proceeds will be used by the students to make a sculpture to remember their fellow classmates.  The names of the students who have passed on will be added to a granite sundial in the middle of the garden as well.  The goal is to dedicate the garden around Memorial Day.  You may be able to see the beginning of construction as the race will pass the site of the Memorial Garden.  You can also keep posted via the school website.  A link is found on the home page.

The constant support of our community has continued to allow us to “do the best we can with what we have”.  You are a reminder of God’s very real presence in every facet of our lives.  Thank you can’t completely express the sentiment of our hearts!  When you have won the race of life and receive the prize, then you will fully know all that you have done.
