Daniel’s 5K Race

A Message from the Myslivecek's

Participants, Sponsors, Family and friends!!

It is time for Daniel's 5k FIFTH ANNUAL RACE! This time of year has come to bring much healing and excitement to our lives because of your and your participation! What a wonderful way to honor and remember Daniel. We look forward to the time spent preparing and 'racing' with you all on April 11th. We realize that this day is Sunday and we understand the conflict this may causesome families. The race committee has made this move for many reasons. First and foremost we can't hold it later in the year in the year without conflicting with other charity races. Secondly, many of the competitive runners prefer to run our length and quality of race on a Sunday. Our course is USATF certified, insured, and if a record is set on this course it holds value in national rankings. Not all charity races have this honor.

This race has seen our family through a series of events. in 2006, Daniel ran this race and completed the race despite cancer treatments. Less than 4 months later, he completed the "race of life" and received the highest prize, guaranteed by Christ. In 2007, our youngest daughter Abigal ran the race despite being diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. In 2008, Abigal ran the race in March and later completed treatment. In December of that year, she was classifed, in remission, from Aplastic Anemia! In 2009, the community rallied once again to our side to remedy years of home maintenance neglect. The Extreme Hope Project resulted in a wonderful transformation from a ranch to a two story, four bedroom home! Feel free to drop by anytime. Usually, the first Sunday of each month from now until June, we have an open house from 1-4pm.

The race has also been a wonderful way to give a little to the community. With your generosity and constant support in the past, we have supported some of Daniel's favorite charities; Hunt of a Lifetime, Benefit for Kids, Golisano Children's Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Camp Good Days, and K-Love. Last year we added Adirondack Experience and a Memorial Garden at Churchville-Chili High School. You will run right past the Memorial Garden on the race course this year! Inspired by the love and commitment of a coummunity, coming together to share hope with us, the race committee has decided to come along side another family in need. Matt St. James went to Churchville-Chili and set many records in Track and Field. While attending Roberts Wesleyan College, he suffered an aneurism while running. This has left him paralyzed and unable to return home due to the lack of a handicap accessible home. This year we plan to donate all proceeds to the Matthew's hope project. For more information and an update on the project you can visit a table at the race or check them out online at www.matthewshope.org

The constant support of our community has given us hope and inspired us to continue to look for ways to give back! In giving we are each a reminder of God's very real presence in every facet of life. Thank you for shining hope in such a tough time!
